Welcome to Gaby Weiner's website

On this site you will find information about me and my working career in the Gender and Education section.

There is a section on Harriet Martineau a journalist and writer and a section on my political work.

I have also done extensive research on my own family history and written a book about it. Hear Isaac talking to his grandma, Gaby, about my new book Tales of Loving and Leaving (AuthorHouse, 2016), by clicking here.

I also occasionally blog in the Comment section.

  5. Gaby wonderfully accessible website with treats instore – I am striving to set one up or a blog – but not sure if wordpress is a good way so to do – any advice most welcome – i am looking forward to your book – I have had many random thoughts since ‘retiring’ or ‘recalibrating as Jane Kenway would prefer – sometimes i just wanted a ‘clean break’ – sounds like a ‘divorce’ but then the death of my mother coincidental with the Brexit vote and my being in my ‘family’ near Rochdale combusted a lot of creativity at least in terms of some nascent ideas for thinking the personal and political – great to see you flourishing so

    1. I have only just picked up your comment about my website. I set one up as a practice run for a website for a small literary charity which I was/am involved in (The Martineau Society). But I have upgraded both. I have to admit that I used a website designer the second time round for both mine and the society, and update them both on a regular basis. I have just added a couple of book reviews of Tales of Loving and Leaving I suppose it’s a way of presenting myself and putting up stuff that people might be interested in as I have gradually detached myself from the academic market place. Perhaps the best descriptor of myself right now, as perhaps always, is as a semi-detached writer and small-time political activist.
